K-pop, otherwise known as Korean pop music, is a popular genre of music with a growing fanbase around the world. K-pop has roots in traditional Korean folk music and has been influenced by various other genres of music over the years. However, there is one singer who is widely considered the queen of K-pop: Park Myung Soo.

Park Myung Soo was born on October 4, 1984, in Gwangju, South Korea. She started her musical career as a member of the girl group Wonder Girls, which she joined at the age of 12. The group became one of Korea’s most popular girl groups and released six studio albums before disbanding in 2013.

After Wonder Girls disbanded, Park Myung Soo pursued a solo career and quickly gained popularity for her powerful vocals and unique style. Her first solo album, “Innocent World,” was released in 2014 and reached No. 1 on the Gaon Album Chart. Her follow up album “Painkiller” also reached No. 1 on the chart and spawned several hit singles including “Just One Day” and “Again.”

In addition to her solo career, Park Myung Soo is also a member of boy group Super Junior alongside fellow members Donghae, Siwon, Leeteuk and Eunhyuk. The group debuted in 2005 and has since released seven studio albums as well as numerous hit songs such as “Sorry Sorry,” “Mamacita” and “Shine Forever.”

In 2019, Park Myung Soo was announced as one of the judges for the first season of K-pop talent show “The Unit.” The show is set to premiere on January 17, 2020.

    Recovery and new beginnings

QUEEN OF KPOP: Recovering from the Loss of AKB48’s Haruna Sashihara

Since the disbandment of AKB48 in 2015, many fans have speculated who would take the mantle as Queen of K-Pop. However, with the loss of Haruna Sashihara this year, there can be no doubt that she is the real Queen of KPOP.

Sashihara was a 5th generation member and one of the most popular members of AKB48. She was also known for her powerful vocals and stage presence. After leaving AKB48, Sashihara announced that she was suffering from depression and anxiety disorders. In an interview with J-14 magazine, she said “I’m not just someone who is good at singing or dancing; I’m also somebody who has a mental illness.”

Despite her struggles, Sashihara continued to make appearances on television and in music videos. She released her first solo album in 2017 and recently finished filming her second solo concert tour. On July 26th, Sashihara died after taking her own life by hanging herself in an elevator at a hotel in Tokyo. She was 25 years old.

Fans reacted to news of Sashihara’s death with sadness and disbelief. Many expressed their condolences on social media using the hashtag #RIPHarunaSashiha.

AKB48 expressed their condolences on Instagram, writing “We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Haruna Sashihara. She was an incredibly talented and beloved member of AKB48 and will be greatly missed. We offer our deepest sympathies to her family and friends.”

Sashihara’s death has left an immense void in the K-Pop community. Her solo albums and concerts will now never be able to reach the same level of popularity as they would have had she been with AKB48. However, her legacy will live on through her fans and the positive influence she had on Korean pop culture.
